Learning Mandarin isn't easy--unless you have someone blabber to you frequently in Chinese (seriously) and make you enjoy using its culture-laden vocabulary. I'm a Chinese who had come to Singapore to study on a Ministry of Education scholarship four years ago and have just finished my A-levels in a prestigious junior college. In my gap year before university I'm looking for a job teaching Mandarin Chinese. As it is, I’ve little professional teaching experience to offer. But here're the cons: my credentials range from authoring a book in Chinese, Chinese emcee for my school’s anniversary ceremony, four years of freelancing for Lianhe Zaobao (the local Chinese newspaper), writing and directing my school's annual Chinese drama production, interpreting in business conferences and composing lyrics for pop songs. Bilingual in Chinese and English, I am now struggling to pick up Spanish (someone please tell me how to rrroll my tongue:confused:). Most importantly, I'm workaholic when it comes to something I like—such as teaching Chinese. And this being my first foray into the world of paid jobs, you know how people go to great lengths to make a good start.
